Zydus inks deal with Swiss firm

New Delhi, Nov. 21: Zydus Cadila, which has launched rabies vaccine, Vaxirab in technical collaboration with Swiss firm Berna Biotech of Berne, has entered into an agreement to supply the entire vaccine requirements of the company.

Berna Biotech is the originator of this vaccine and the international brand is called Lyssavac N Berna.

Speaking at the vaccine launch, Madhav Kulkarni, senior vice president of Zydus Cadila said, “We paid a one-time fee to Berna for the technology transfer.”

However, he refused to divulge the quantum to be supplied to Berna or disclose the one-time fee. Zydus may seal more alliances with the Swiss company for other categories of vaccines and immunoglobulants, said Kulkarni.
