Heraklion (Greece): India’s I. Ramya Krishna pulled off a spectacular win over second seed and compatriot D. Harika in the under-12 girls’ section to shoot into the sole lead on 5.5 points after Round VI of the World Youth Chess championships on Wednesday.
In the under-14 boys’ section, G. Rohit came back into reckoning for top honours with his fifth straight win when he beat Czech Karel Malinovsky. He is now in a five way lead at the top along with former world under-12 champion Deep Sengupta on 5 points.
In the under-10 boys’ section, Parimarjan Negi moved into joint lead with top seed Safarli Eltaz of Azerbaijan and Ding Liren of China after a fine victory over another Chinese, Luo Xin.
In the under-18 boys’ section, GM P. Harikrishna scored his first victory with black pieces in the event to maintain his joint second position on 5 points.
