School monitors seek govt watch

Behrampore, Nov. 17: School inspectors today criticised the government for not monitoring the disbursement of salary to secondary school teachers, which has created an excess fund of about Rs 100 crore in 1,200 schools.

At the inspectors’ conference here, general secretary of the Paschim Banga Vidyalaya Paridarshak Samity Subodh Chakraborty urged the fund-strapped government to harness this fund.

State Co-ordination Committee leader Smarajit Roychaudhury addressed the three-day meet where the inspectors alleged that a nexus between booksellers and teachers was responsible for the “cumbersome nature” of Madhyamik textbooks.
