Ganapathy cards historic 12-under

Calcutta: Rahul Ganapathy Friday returned the best card ever in the history of the Indian Professional Golf Tour when he shot a 12-under 60 in the third round of the Rs 8.5 lakh Servo Masters at the Digboi Club Golf Links.

According to information reaching here, Rahulís 60 was the lowest ever recorded score on the Hero Honda Golf Tour. He bettered the previous best effort of ten-under 60, shot by Vijay Kumar en route his victory in the OCM Open in 1996 at the par-70 course in Amritsar.

Warming up with a par, Ganapathy changed gear immediately to card a hattrick of birdies from the second hole onwards. Sealing his front nine with back-to back birdies on the eighth and ninth, he then went on to scorch his return journey.

He parred the tenth, made back-to-back birdies on the 11th and 12th, parred the 13th, made an eagle-two on the par 4 14th, and signed off with another hat-trick of birdies on the 15th, 16th and 17th.
