Airlines rush to pamper passengers

New Delhi, Nov. 14: Ticket prices may be creeping up but the aviation industry is still trying hard to woo passengers with offers ranging from Mercedes Benz to be won from a show arranged by Air Sahara to paring restriction periods in booking cheap tickets by Jet Airways from 21 days to 15 days.

Air Sahara today unveiled plans for the second round of “Crickcitement” — a television show on Sahara TV, hosted by Shekhar Suman. The show will give away prizes like a chalet worth Rs 2.5 crore or an E-class Mercedes.

The first phase has already seen lucky draws for prizes ranging from DVD players to flat TV sets. The game show is being organised on Saturday at Filmistan Studio in Mumbai.

Jet Airways has introduced a frill-free ‘Everybody can fly’ programme, where cheap tickets can be bought 15 days in advance. All other previous restrictions on the sale of the tickets have been withdrawn from the scheme from December 16 till January 15, 2003.

Tickets issued for travel on or after December 1, 2002, can now be amended or refunded till 15 days before departure, subject to an administration charge of Rs 100. The fares which were revised under the advanced purchase scheme can also be amended by paying the difference 15 days before departure.
