Hockey squad named

The Bengal squad for the 39th Jawaharlal Nehru hockey tournament, to be held in New Delhi from Thursday to November 25 was announced by the Bengal Hockey Association on Tuesday.

THE squad

Sunil Soreng, Chandan Debnath, Kishore Kujur, Manoj Kujur, Rakesh Mondal, Tomba Singh, Christopher Thomas, Niral Bhengra, Prakash Toppo, Hardeep Singh, Stephen Kujur, Anil Ekka, Gurdhyan Singh, Junas Bara, Paulus Soi, Sunil Soren.

Musah arrival

Mohun Baganís new Nigerian recruit Isa Musah arrived Wednesday to play in the National Football League. The final decision on his signing will be taken by the coach Subrata Bhattacharya after he returns from South Korea.

Bangla win

In a friendly match played at Eden Gardens on Wednesday, the Bangladesh under-17 side trounced their Bengal counterparts by nine wickets.

While Bengal were dismissed for 96 in their 30 overs, the Bangladeshis overhauled them losing just a wicket.

Sub-jr cricket

The Siliguri Jagarani Sangha will organise an All-Bengal sub-junior knockout cricket tournament at the Siliguri Womenís College ground from November 18. All the matches will be day-night affairs.

Subhojit Moitra (Danu) Memorial Cricket Coaching Centre are the defending champions while Sambaran Banerjee Cricket Academy were the runners-up in the last edition.

Kabaddi camp

The West Bengal Kabaddi Association will inaugurate a coaching camp dedicated to former national captain Biswajit Palit on Saturday. The camp, which will function every Saturday and Sunday, will have 200 boys and girls in the under-16 and under-14 categories.
