Kumble, Agarkar dropped
- FOURTH, FIFTH ONE-DAYERS

Rajkot: The national selectors Tuesday cracked the whip on the non-performers and dropped veteran leg-spinner Anil Kumble and all-rounder Ajit Agarkar from the Indian squad for the next two one-day matches against the West Indies.

Both Kumble and Agarkar disappointed with their performance in the first three matches of the series though Agarkar did score a scintillating 95 in the first game in Jamshedpur.

Tamil Nadu paceman Lakshmipathy Balaji and Railways left-arm spinner Murali Kartik have been inducted into the 15-member side which also includes wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel as a cover for Rahul Dravid.

Kumble failed to impress in the two games that he played in, returning figures of one for 48 from seven overs in Jamshedpur and none for 33 from six overs in Nagpur, and was dropped for the third match in Rajkot Tuesday.

Agarkar fared well in the first match, scoring 95 and claiming one for 42 from nine overs, but has disappointed since. He was hit for 47 runs from seven overs in Nagpur and 63 from six Tuesday.

Kartik’s is in, though the spinner missed Railways’ Ranji Trophy match vs Delhi, which concluded Tuesday, due to an injury.
