Principal, Modern High School for Girls

Ideally, the move is desirable, but it is not feasible because of the number of examinees and other complications involved. At school, of course, students are shown their answer-scripts, but here the numbers are manageable. The solution to the problem lies in a fool-proof assessment procedure. The marking scheme should be scientifically drawn up. If the examiners are briefed well, the subjective element can be considerably reduced even for humanities subjects. The quality of examiners is also important. If individuals are not committed, then no marking system is good enough. The follow-up procedure should be sound as there is always scope for human error.
