No support for budding barons, says TCS chief

Calcutta, Nov. 12: Despite its success in the software arena, India has failed to provide a supporting environment for budding entrepreneurs.

“There are two factors that inhibit entrepreneurs in the country—the lack of effective interaction between industry and institutes and a vigorous venture capital finance. There is no incentive for ideas,” S. Mahalingam, executive vice-president of the Rs 4,187-crore Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) said.

He added that most entrepreneurs who have made it to the big league have done so through very gradual development.
