Bengal boys sniff victory

Calcutta: The Bengal under-15 boys were on the brink of victory at stumps on Day II of their Polly Umrigar Trophy match against Tripura at the Rajdanga ground on Monday. After making 258 for eight in their first innings, they reduced Tripura to 88 for seven in the second.

Orissa protest

Orissa lodged a protest against seven players of the Bihar team alleging they were overage. The players are Kesav Kumar, Rajeev Rao, Amarjyoti Ranjan, Arvind Jha, Shiv Kumar Ganbu, Abhishek Moitra and S. Gupta.

Bangladesh win

The Bengal under-17 team lost their three-day match against their Bangladesh counterparts at the FD Block ground Monday. Bangladesh scored the required runs losing six wickets, Tanvir Rashid remaining not out on 50.

Bengal 97 & 160. Bangladesh 147 & 112/6 (Tanvir Rashid 50 n.o. , Sayak Ghosh 3/31). Bangladesh won by 4 wkts.
