New Delhi : Vijai Singh preserved his best for the last, knocking the final playoff with an eagle to pocket the richest purse of $21,500 at the bilt skins golf on Sunday.
The world No. 7 showed what it takes to be a champion as he birdied the 16th and 17th holes to leave behind others in fray — pros Jyoti Randhawa and Harmeet Kahlon and former Indian cricketer and amateur Kapil Dev — in what was billed as the “richest pay-day singles event” at the DLF course, Gurgaon.
“It was a good shot to finish off,” Vijai said of his winning eagle later. “I had the advantage on the 18th as the others had dropped their first shots. I couldn’t have asked for a better shot”.
Randhawa grabbed a cheque of $13,500. Kahlon took $8,500 while Kapil pocketed $1,500.
