Inflation moves up to 3.02 %

New Delhi, Nov. 10: Buying spree on Diwali eve led to a sharp rise in vegetable and fruit prices pushing inflation up by 0.13 per cent to 3.02 per cent for the week ended October 26 even as the government was able to contain the “spill over” of substantial spurt in oil prices in the previous week. The point-to-point price change as measured by the wholesale price index rose from 2.89 per cent in the previous week. The index was 2.65 per cent in the previous year.

Nabard plan

New Delhi, Nov. 10: National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) is targeting to raise over Rs 2,700 crore through bond issues this fiscal as part of efforts to enhance credit in the drought-hit rural sector.

Dabhol revival

Mumbai, Nov. 10: Engineering giants GE and Bechtel have sought 12 to 15 weeks time for a “thorough” study of the idle 2,184 MW Dabhol Power Company plant and a separate exclusive two month site visit for its experts to assess the “actual state and good working knowledge of the plant’s current condition,” albeit at a professional fee.

Mumbai, Nov. 10: Management consultancy firm A. T. Kearney has begun preliminary discussions with Air-India to develop options, recommend financial restructuring strategy and prepare a long term business plan for the carrier.

Kinetic venture

New Delhi, Nov. 10: Kinetic group will soon float a two-wheeler financing joint venture with a Citi group company, Associates India Financial Services, a top company official said.
