Shourie to step in for Maran

New Delhi, Nov. 9: Disinvestment minister Arun Shourie has been given additional charge of commerce and industry ministry in the wake of prolonged illness of Murasoli Maran who is being flown to the United States for treatment. “This is only a temporary charge until Maran returns from the US after treatment,” Shourie said. He will leave for Sydney on Monday as the head of an Indian delegation to a crucial WTO inter-ministerial meeting.

Forex reserves

New Delhi, Nov. 9: After a marginal decline last week, India’s foreign exchange reserves rose by $ 582 million during the week ended November 1 following fresh inflows and revaluation of the dollar vis-a-vis the euro. Foreign exchange reserves rose by $ 582 million in the previous week and stood at $ 64,621 million.

NHB chairman

Calcutta, Nov. 9: Uco Bank executive director V. Sridar has been appointed chairman and managing director of National Housing Bank (NHB). A bank release said Sridar will take charge of the new assignment on Monday.
