CHENNAI ATP MEET
Chennai: Leander Paes and Prakash Amritraj have been awarded wild card entries to the main draw of the Tata Open beginning here on December 30.
This is the fifth time in seven years that Paes will feature in the singles draw as a wild card. In 1998 and 1999, he had got a direct entry for his high ranking. With singles off his agenda for quite some time, Paesí ranking is now in four-digits.
Though four-time doubles champions Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi will not be playing together, Amritraj cousins Prakash and Stephen will be a major attraction in the doubles draw.
They have had some good results lately.
Prakash, who turned 19 last month, also got a wild card at the US Open for winning the USTA U-18 title. Srichaphan apart, the other top names in the singles draw will be holder Guillermo Canas of Argentina and Aussie Mark Philippoussis.
