Consular golf from tomorrow

Calcutta: Consulate officials in India and corporate bigwigs will fight for top honours on the green as the second edition of the Navision Consular Corps of Calcutta gets underway at Tollygunge Club from Friday.

A total of 26 consulates and 56 companies will take part in the three-day meet.

Y.C. Deveshwar (chairman of ITC), B.L. Raina (MD of Tinplate), B. Muthuraman (MD of Tata Steel), G.P. Goenka (Chairman of Duncans Industries), S.S. Kanoria (chairman, Finvest Services) and many other corporate big guns will be seen in action.

A French delegation of businessmen, who are in the city for some trade-related activities, will also try their luck on the golf course.

Announcing this at a press conference, Navision managing director Yash Nagpal hoped the annual affair would soon develop into a tournament promoted by consular corps from all over India. He also said it would act as a window for business opportunities in eastern India.
