A bridge too close to a pig colony
The land below the approach to Vidyasagar Setu has been turned into a pigsty, where around 150 to 200 pigs have been accommodated. The possibility of an encephalitis outbreak cannot be ruled out. Besides, a large portion of the plot has been occupied by makeshift structures. The entire stretch, as a result, looks very dirty. D.G. Pillai, Hastings.
It has become a routine affair for most Kali puja committees to arrange concerts near the pandals. A huge amount of subscription is raised for the soiree and local residents are persuaded to pitch in. Itís time we protested such activities. Rabindranath Kar, Sankar Ghosh Lane.
