New Delhi: India will take on South Korea in the quarter finals of the AFC under-20 football championship in Doha Friday.
India, who finished with three points in group B, reached the last eight as one of the two best third-placed teams.
India trounced Bangladesh 6-0 in their opening match, before suffering consecutive defeats. They went down 1-2 to Japan and 0-4 to Saudi Arabia in their final league match Wednesday.
India started on a confident note, with S. Malswamtluanga having a great game against Bangladesh, and had another encouraging outing against the powerful Japanese. The heavy defeat against Saudi Arabia, however, didnít prove costly as Islam Akhmedovís boys moved up as one of the two better third-placed team from three groups.
In the other quarter-final matches, Japan will meet the UAE, Saudi Arabia will play China and Syria take on Uzbekistan. (PTI)
