Oct. 20: The BJP today tried to enforce a public ceasefire on the divestment war of words within the government but failed to prevent a stray shot from streaking out.
A day after disinvestment minister Arun Shourie accused NDA partner Shiv Sena of doublespeak on sell-off, the BJP asked ministers as well as allies not to air their views in public.
However, coal and mines minister Uma Bharti said her ministry’s suggestions on the Nalco disinvestment had been “consistently ignored” and she would now place them before Prime Minister A.B. Vajpayee and deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani.
