Fresh clashes in Nepal

Kathmandu, Oct. 20 (PTI): Three policemen were killed and seven seriously injured in a landmine explosion triggered by Maoists. Security forces killed eight rebels in separate encounters, officials said today.

The policemen were killed when their vehicle passed over the landmine planted by Maoists in Kailali district in western Nepal. The injured have been flown by an army helicopter to Kathmandu for treatment.

More policemen have been sent to the area and search operations for the terrorists are on.

Eight rebels were killed in western Lamjung, Rukum and Kalikot, the defence ministry said today.
