Deep for Taylor camp

Bengal wicketkeeper Deep Dasgupta will leave for Mumbai Sunday to take part in a three-day coaching camp for ’keepers organised by the Cricket Club of India. The former India wicketkeeper, along with some other stumpers from other parts of the country, will train under former England gloveman Bob Taylor.

Top three in semi-finals

The top three seeds in the under-12 category — Karamveer Singh Dhillon, Soumit Dey and Tayyab Alam — moved into the semi-finals of the ITA mini-junior tennis meet being held at the SAI eastern Centre Thursday. Dhillon beat Mohammed Imran 6-2, 6-3, Dey got past Iftekar Hossain 6-1, 6-2, while Alam downed Ayush Bajoria 6-2, 6-2. Fourth seed Rahul Jaikishen lost to Aditya Sinha 3-6, 4-6.

Age-group chess

The 14th state age-group chess championship will begin at St Thomas Church School Monday. The seven-day event for boys and girls will be divided into four sections under-7, under-9, under-11 and under-13. The top two from each group will represent Bengal in the national age-group championship.
