Four from Bengal in main draw

Indore: Bengal’s Pilanvita Nandi, Anirban Roy Chowdhury, Susonan Das and Sumit Kundu have qualified for the main draw of the Central India national ranking championships that began on Wednesday.

Pilanvita made light work of Khushboo Sharma of Madhya Pradesh, beating her 11-2, 11-3, 11-2 to make it to the main draw of the sub-junior girls’ section. Rashu Sharma of Madhya Pradesh and Nancy Singh of Uttar Pradesh also reached main draw.

In the sub-junior boys’ qualifying rounds, Anirban beat Orissa’s Amit Das Mahapatra 11-6, 11-7, 11-5, while Susonan humbled Prateek Tare of Madhya Pradesh 11-4, 11-2, 11-1. Sumit beat Toshua Saxena of Uttar Pradesh 11-8, 12-10, 11-9. (PTI)
