Manama, Oct. 5 (Agencies): The first game of the ‘Brains in Bahrain’ chess match between world champion Vladimir Kramnik and the computer Deep Fritz ended in an uneventful draw Friday.

Kramnik, playing black, chose the solid Berlin Defence to the Ruy Lopez.

Subhrajit qualifies

Meanwhile, in Jalandhar Bengal’s Subhrajit Saha became the first player to qualify for the national A chess championship. A quick draw with Arvind Shastri of Karnataka in the 12th and penultimate round of the 40th national B chess meet ensured his qualification.
