Risky run on mishap track

Sahebganj, Oct. 3: While movement of long distance superfast trains at Sahebganj station continues to be disrupted, local passenger trains are being allowed to ply as part of a trial after repair on the Sahebganj-Barharwa loop section. Panic-stricken officials of Eastern Railway appear to be busy covering their lapse over their failure in crisis management by allowing the passenger trains to ply on the faulty tracks.

Traffic was restored on a trial basis on the Sahebganj-Barharwa loop section but long distance trains continue to be diverted through other sections.

Recently , passengers of the 812 Dn Jamalpur–Ajimganj passenger train had a narrow escape on the Sahebganj- Barharwa loop section following erosion of soil under the track between the Maharajpur–Karanpura stations by flood water. The damaged tracks on this section continue to pose a threat to the lives of thousands of passengers.

Unaware about the incident, the Malda control room not only allowed the Ajimganj passenger train to go ahead from Sahebganj station but also gave a green signal to the 4056 Dn New Delhi- Dimapur Brahmaputra Mail and 3072 Dn Jamalpur-Howrah Superfast Express to cross Sahebganj station.

Sources from Sahebganj station were unable to justify why passenger trains were being run on a trial on the under-constructed loop section.
