Subhrajit keeps lead

Jalandhar: Subhrajit Saha of Bengal maintained his lead with another quick draw against Prathamesh Mokal of Maharashtra in a draw marred ninth round of the 40th national B chess championships.

Subhrajit (8 points) is cruising towards his maiden victory in the national B. Prathamesh follows him a half point behind and a pack of five players (Tejas Bakre, G B Prakash, Sunderrajan Kidambi, Neelotpal Das and K Ratnakaran) have 7 points apiece.

Top seed double GM norm holder Sandipan Chanda came back in to reckoning for a place in the top 12 with a hard fought victory over IM Sharad Tilak in a keenly contested game.

Luck continued to favour Krishna Soni of Haryana as he walked out from the jaws of defeat against T. S. Ravi. (PTI)
