Independence Cup

Nagaon: East Bengal regained their form to beat Guwahati Town Club 4-0 in a quarter final league match of the Independence Cup football meet Sunday.

Dipankar Roy, Alvito de Cunha, Anit Ghosh and Chandan Das scored the goals.The winners led 2-0 at half-time.

In spite of their loss to Oil India Limited (OIL) in the earlier match, the Calcutta giants made the semi-final with a better goal difference. OIL was the other team to qualify from the group.

Meanwhile, East Bengal left-back Falguni Dutta was sent back home by the coach following misconduct at the end of the first game.

In another quarter final group match, Nagaland Police beat Assam Police 3-0. The third team of the group is Mohammedan Sporting.
