Cardiac surgeons’ meet
The newly formed Jharkhand chapter of the Cardiological Society of India organised its inaugural function which was held under the chairmanship of Rai C.N. Sahay, a formed professor at RMCH, Ranchi. On this occasion, D.S. Gambhir, a former professor of cardiology, G.B. Pant Hospital, Delhi, delivered a lecture on “Reperfusion Therapy in Aacute Myocardial Infarction & Current Strategies”.
Customer care
The Ranchi branch of IndusInd Bank has organised a customer meet of senior citizens on October 1. The day had been declared “International Day of Older Persons” by the General Assembly of United Nations. The meet will start at 5 pm. There will also be a lecture session during the event, said branch head Shaheer Imam
Health camp
The Rotary club of Ranchi organised a free health check-up camp for senior citizens at Mcluscki Ganj on Sunday. The camp, attended by medical practitioners and club members, was supported by the World Health Organisation. Free medicines were distributed among the senior citizens and had been arranged by the State Bank of India. Twenty leprosy patients will be provided free treatment at Raj Hospital and people suffering from tuberculosis will be given medicines with support from the WHO.
New language
The first teacher to teach school students “Kurukh”, the language of Oraon, would be appointed on Monday at St John's School, Ranchi. The appointment letter would be given by Sudarshan Bhagat at a function to be held tomorrow afternoon.
Soccer tourney
A daylong football tournament was held at Manda Maidan, Argora, Ranchi. Sixteen teams from 12 villages participated in the tournament. The winner team was given “Khassi” (goat) as prize. The aim of the programme was to develop harmony among tribals and non-tribals.
Murder
A shop owner was gunned down in Bhuli on Sunday morning. Old business rivalry is believed to be the cause of the murder. Police sources said that Hari Seth, the victim, used to run a grocery. He was busy with his business, when one Om Prakash of the Dharjori
bustee
gunned him down. The victim’s son Mukesh Kumar has lodged an FIR with the Bhuli police station. Prakash has not been arrested.
