Indian team sponsors withdraw from court

New Delhi: Sahara India has withdrawn its application in the Delhi high court seeking to restrain the ICC and the BCCI from putting an embargo on the national team to sport its logo during the ongoing Champions Trophy in Sri Lanka.

“The application, which was for enforcement of the arbitration agreement with International Merchandising Corporation (IMC) for sponsoring the Indian team, was withdrawn because there was no arbitration agreement with the BCCI,” Sahara’s counsel Amarjit Singh Chandhiok said.

However, Sahara was free to file a suit for enforcement of its agreement with IMC, the marketing arm of International Management Group (IMG), he said.
