‘Supreme sacrifice’

New Delhi, Sept. 25 (PTI): It was a moment of pride coupled with emotions when the body of subedar Suresh Chand Yadav, the hero of the operation at the Swaminarayan temple, was brought here today.

Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani, who placed a wreath on the commando’s body, said Yadav made a supreme sacrifice to save innocent lives.

Brigadier Raj Seetapathy, the operation commander, also placed a wreath on the body as did the minister of state for home, the Cabinet secretary, the home secretary and the slain jawan’s cousin, Neeladhar Yadav. The jawan is survived by his wife and two children.

Yadav joined the army in 1979 and was part of the 13 Mahar regiment after which he moved to the CRPF. Last year, he was sent on deputation to the NSG where he was part of the 51 Special Action Group.

Yadav came from Alwar district of Rajasthan. His body will be taken to Manesar, the NSG headquarters, for the last rites.
