Walk for cancer awareness

Students of Aptech, a computer education institute, will take out a procession in the city on Sunday to create awareness about cancer and the activities of Cancer Centre Welfare Home and Research Institute, Thakurpukur.

The programme is aimed at making the lower-income group aware of the disease, director of the institute Saroj Gupta said. Amitava Ghosh, zonal manager, Aptech Computer Education said the walk was part of the organisation’s social service scheme.

nChildcare workshop: A workshop was held on Saturday to discuss the state-wide response to the ‘positive deviance’ project launched a year ago. It was organised by the department of women and child development and social welfare, Unicef and Child in Need Institute. The project, devised to combat malnutrition in children, examines practices in rural homes, where children stay healthy despite financial constraints.
