Ardency, Pehlvan shine Races put off

Calcutta: Ardency, Pehlvan, Anacott were impressive when the following horses went through paces on Thursday morning:

Outer sand track

800m: Bul Bul (Engineer) in 1-3s; (400m) 31s. Very easy.

600m: Winning Hand (Rb) in 47s; (400m) 31s. Abandoned (Smith) and Magic Ring (I. Chisty) in 44s; (400m) 29s. They were easy but the former finished ahead by a length. April Ace (Upadhya) and Simply Dashing (R. Ahmed) in 49s; (400m) 31s. They were level.

Monsoon track

800m: Anacott (Shanker) in 57s; (400m) 28s. Moved well. Allodium (Islam) and Lockers Park (Rabani) in 56s; (400m) 27s. Former was easily 2 ls better. Ardency (Maseyk) and Pehlvan (Rabani) in 53s; (600m) 39s; (400m) 26s. They impressed while they finished level. Asprey (Upadhya) in 58s; (400m) 28s. 600m: Giorgio (Upadhya) in 40s; (400m) 25s. Moved well. Flinders (I. Chisty) in 39s; (400m) 24s. Good. Carbon Steel (Brij S.) and Phunney Phellow (Rutherford) in 49s; (400m) 31s.

400m: Countach (Smith) 28s.

Sand track

1,400m: Andreyev (Shanker) in 1-59s; (400m) 32s. Went easy.

800m: Prince Of Fashion (I. Chisty) and Comedy Of Errors (Tamang) in 55s; (400m) 27s. Both were handy as they spurted together. As A Rule (Saran S.) in 1-1s; (400m) 31s. Dancing Rhythm (Shanker) in 1-2s; (400m) 29s. Darth Vader (Tamang) and a 2-year-old by Concordial out of Footsteps (I. Chisty) in 56s; (400m) 26s. They were level.

Gate practice: Impressive Prince (Upadhya) and Gallant Romeo (Asghar) from 2000m to 1,200m in 56s; (first 600m 41s). Former who jumped out well, finished 6 ls better.

Calcutta: Owing to law and order problems arising out of issue related to Cauvery river, the stewards Mysore Race Club decided to cancel races scheduled for Thursday, according to RCTC sources.

Sources also informed that the Hyderabad inter-venue racing scheduled for Saturday has been postponed to Monday. Accordingly RCTC will conduct inter-venue betting on Monday.
