Hydrous hues

Great good is said to be like water,

Sustaining life with no conscious striving,

Flowing naturally, providing nourishment,

Found even in places

Which desiring man rejects.

Too-te-Tching

Water — the very manifestation of Nature’s generosity. Soft, muted, yielding to touch, yet versatile, omnipresent and ever-potent — it manifests in its being the principles of Prana (life) and creativity. Vikalp Art Shop is currently hosting an exhibition of watercolours titled Hydrous Hues, showcasing works of renowned contemporary artists including Shanu Lahiri, Rabin Mondal, Isha Mohammed, Shyamal Dutta Roy, Sanat Kar, Ramananda Bandopadhyay, Suhas Roy, Jogen Chowdhury, Shuvaprasanna, Subrata Gangopadhyay, Pradip Maitra, Wasim R. Kapoor, Tapas Sarkar, Somnath Maity, Dilip Chaudhury, Saikat Bhattacharjee and others. Also, as tribute to the late artist Shaibal Ghosh, two of his watercolours have been mounted in this show. Watercolour was Ghosh’s forte and he carried out several experiments with this medium.
