Ranjit Adhikarimayum aka Guru Ranjit Adhikari Sharma is one of the foremost talents to emerge on the Manipuri dance scenario. A disciple of legendary late Guru Thiyam Tarunkumar Singh, Adhikarimayum was trained in Manipuri martial arts movements by N. Shyamcharan Singh, N. Khelchandra and M. Ibombi Singh. He also mastered Nat Cholom of Manipuri Sankirtana under the guidance of late Guru Kh. Anganghal Singh. Adhikarimayum has also participated in theatre workshops conducted by stalwarts including Il Kanhailal, A. Lokendro, W. Kamini, Sanyakhya Ebotombi and Ebrahim Alkazi. A talented performer and choreographer, Adhikarimayum is the principal of Shri Shri Govindajee Nartanalaya. He is a regular performer and has a series of hit ballets and dance-dramas to his credit. Adhikarimayum, well-known for his abstract classical ballets, has just conducted a week-long Manipuri dance workshop, organised by the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre, in Calcutta. This evening, Adhikarimayum will be performing solo as well as with the participants of the recently-concluded workshop.
