Two more burglaries

The spate of dacoities in east Calcutta continued on Tuesday.

The dacoity at Kailash Agarwal’s CIT Road apartment took place when he was out. His brother Radheshyam and wife Uma were in when four goons struck. They forced their way into the room. When the couple tried to resist, they were attacked with sharp weapons. Later, the group escaped in a waiting taxi.

Miscreants struck another house in Muchipara, in north Calcutta, where they robbed an 84-year-old woman, Sabita Dey, of her gold bangles, earrings and other valuables.

Tuesday’s incident on CIT Road was the third such case in east Calcutta, with criminals netting Rs 2 lakh from offices in Samilton Chambers, on AJC Bose Road, and another lakh from a house on CIT Road on Sunday.
