Roads to avoid

Esplanade from 3 pm. Democratic Youth Federation of India members will take out a rally to protest imperialism. Southern Avenue. Work is in progress on the drainage pumping station. A portion of the northern flank of AJC Bose Road and JL Nehru Road will be closed.

Interaction

An interactive session on contemporary Japanese literature at Seagull Bookstore from 6 pm. A performance/reading by writer Masahiko Shimada will be accompanied by Tanmoy Bose on tabla and percussion.

Workshops

A workshop on Manipuri dance, organised by Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre, at Aikatan, Salt Lake, from 10 am to 5 pm. A workshop on diamonds by Roshnee Jain at Cosmopolitan Club.

Books

An exhibition-cum-sale of Indian and foreign books at Prudential Hall from 11 am to 8 pm.

Art shows

‘Cities, Ideas & Icons’, an exhibition of paintings by Veena Bhargava, at The Artery, Ballygunge Park Road, from 4 pm to 8 pm. An Indo-Bangla-Thai art exhibition, presented by International Young Artists’ Organisation, at Birla Academy of Art and Culture from 3 pm to 8 pm. An exhibition of miniature paintings by Umashankar Sharma at Chitrakoot Art Gallery from 3 pm to 8 pm. An exhibition of paintings by Rajni Jhunjhunwala at Birla Academy of Fine Arts, 4 pm-8 pm.
