Pious zeal at pedestrian expense
During Janmashtami this year, several pandals were erected, blocking a part of the road. It caused tremendous inconvenience to motorists and pedestrians. The organisers of such programmes forcibly collect donations from passersby. Moreover, the music played is deafening. Itís high time the authorities took action. Rabindranath Kar, Sankar Ghosh Lane.
Numerous office-goers and daily passengers in almost all trains bound for Sealdah play cards, causing inconvenience to other passengers. Besides, many of them hurl abuses if any attempt is made to occupy a seat. Railway officials should look into the matter. Prahlad Agarwala. Nadia.
