Jois’ book released in Delhi
Governor M. Rama Jois was felicitated by the Supreme Court Bar Association for his appointment to the top post here in New Delhi. A book authored by Jois,
“Eternal Values in Manu Smriti
”, was also released by former Chief Justice of India A.S. Anand. According to a release issued by Raj Bhavan, the Bar association had organised a function on the Supreme Court premises that was presided over by Chief Justice B.N. Kirpal. Releasing Jois’ book, Justice Anand said the author had selected valuable verses from “Manu Smriti”, which are still relevant to the society.
Mecon head
R.K. Zaroo, has taken over as the acting chairman-cum-managing director (CMD) of Ranchi-based consultancy firm Mecon. Outgoing CMD R.L. Trikha handed over charge to Zaroo on Sunday. According to a Union ministry of steel release, Zaroo will look after the work of CMD in addition to his present duties with effect from September 1. Later, Trikha was accorded a warm send-off at a farewell function held at Mecon community hall.
Family tips
The Tata Steel Family Initiatives Foundation, Jamshedpur, will conduct a two-day training programme for adolescents and youths from September 2 at YMCA training hall, Ranchi. Sixty boys and girls will participate in the programme, which will cover briefing on health and hygiene, family life education, reproductive health, drug and alcohol, and HIV, AIDS, STD and RTI. Action plan will be chalked out during the programme for generating awareness and developing proper mechanism to fight social evils. L. Kalsey, Dilith Castleton and V.R. Athaide of the foundation will be the resource persons.
Bar president
Sampat Kumar has been elected the president of the Ranchi District Bar Association for second consecutive year. He defeated Gopal Sahu by 92 votes. Sampat Kumar is an active member of various social organisations and presently is also the chief advisor of the Jharkhand Body Building Association.
Women’s centre
Mahila Silai Prakshishan Kendra, promoted by Vasundhara Homes Private Limited, a real estate company, was inaugurated at Tetar Toli village, Morahbadi, on Sunday. The centre has been opened as part of the community development programme of Vasundhara Homes.
Tech seminar
At a seminar on “Cost-effective Technology in Housing Sector”, K.K. Khadiya, former chairman of the Institute of Engineers, highlighted the role of the institute in the state.
