Securitymen killed inside Durgapur factory

Durgapur, Sept. 1: Tension ran high here this morning after the bodies of two private security guards were discovered inside an engineering factory at Karangapara under Coke Oven police station.

Employees of New Allenby Engineering Works found the bodies when they returned for duty today.

Ramkumar Prasad, 34, and Kamal Dongar, 35, were stabbed by a gang of five miscreants last night, police said.

The miscreants took with them valuable equipment from the factory and some important documents. No one has been arrested yet.

This morning, the employees found the main entrance of the factory open and the guards lying in a pool of blood inside. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem.

The panic-stricken staff contacted owner Parimal Dutta, who informed the police.

Dutta alleged that he had informed the police about a gang of anti-socials who extorted money regularly from factory-owners in the area.

He had also requested the police to intensify night patrol. “But they did not bother, and I was forced to engage private security guards.”

There are at least hundred small industrial units in the area and many of the owners alleged that they had been threatened to pay-up, or suffer.
