Calcutta: An inspection team from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) will visit the city Friday as part of its survey on potential of football in India. Fifa Goal Project director Paul Mony Samuel and AFC technical committee head Alex Soosay are the members of the team.
The officials are scheduled to have a busy day, which starts with a trip to the Maidan ground and tents of the three ‘big’ clubs and includes visits to the Howrah Municipal Corporation Stadium and the grand stadium at Salt Lake.
Meetings with the state sports minister, the regional director of SAI and IFA officials are also on the agenda. The inspection curriculum is vast and includes infrastructure, development of youth and women’s football, Futsal, competition structure, coaching, funding, marketing and refereeing.
