Roads to avoid

Southern Avenue. Work is in progress on the drainage pumping station. Sewer line relocation work on AJC Bose Road has necessitated the following change in traffic flow: portion of the northern flank of AJC Bose Road and JL Nehru Road will be closed.

Seminars

The annual international seminar on ‘Crossing Borders: American, Asian and Post-Colonial Literatures’, organised by American Literature Study Circle, at American Center, from 10.30 am. The 35th West Bengal students’ seminar on ‘Remote sensing applications for national development: potential and impediments’ will be inaugurated at Birla Industrial and Technological Museum at 10 am. Minister Md. Salim will attend.

Ceremony

The 48th passing-out parade and graduation ceremony of Marine Engineering and Research Institute on the campus at 4 pm. Consul-general of Japan Ryuzo Kikuchi is chief guest.

The Merchants Cup Darts Tournament 2002, organised by West Bengal Darts Association, at the CC&FC.

The 11th Sutanuti Utsab, organised by Sutanuti Parishad, at Sovabazar Rajbari.

Art shows

An exhibition of paintings by four artists at Academy of Fine Arts, North Gallery, from 3 pm. Paintings by Krishna Dey on display at Academy of Fine Arts, West gallery, from 3 pm to 8 pm.
