8-yr-old Indian gets Fide rating

Chennai, Aug. 24 (PTI): Just a little over eight years, Srinath of Tamil Nadu has become the youngest Fide rated player of India, sending New Delhiís Parimarjan Negiís record into oblivion.

Negi was nine years and two months when he secured the Fide rating. The eight-and-a-half-year-old Srinath qualified securing 4.5 points against nine Fide rated players he had met so far, K. Muralimohan, general secretary in-charge, Tamil Nadu chess association, said in a press release.
