INDIA FACE PAK IN QUALIFYING OPENER

Calcutta, June 11: 
India kick off versus Pakistan in their ninth Asian Youth under-16 soccer championship qualifiers to be held in Jamshedpur from June 20, according to information received here. In group IV, where India are with Bangladesh, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and Pakistan, matches will be held till June 30 on a round-robin basis. Twenty-two Indian probables are undergoing final training in Jamshedpur right now with Uzbek coach Islam Akhmedov at the helm of affairs. The final squad will be announced soon. There are eight groups in the tournament, to be played in eight different venues in the group stage. The venues are Bohsher (Oman, Group I), Bahrain (Group II), Tehran (Group III), Jamshedpur (Group IV), Kathmandu (Group V), Bangkok (Group VI), Seoul (Group VII), Nagoya (Japan, Group VIII) and Yangon (Group IX). The finals of this meet will be held in Vietnam from September 3 to 17. Calcutta’s Udayan Haldar has been chosen assistant referee for goup III matches in Tehran, between June 23 and July 1. JAMSHEDPUR U-16 FIXTURES June 20: India vs Pakistan; June 21: Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh; June 22: Bhutan vs Pakistan; June 23: India vs Sri Lanka; June 24: Bangladesh vs Pakistan; June 25: Sri Lanka vs Bhutan; June 26: India vs Bangladesh; June 27: Pakistan vs Sri Lanka; June 28: Bhutan vs Bangladesh; June 30: India vs Bhutan. Under-19 qualifiers In the 32nd Asian Youth under-19 championship qualifiers, India are in group V with Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Pakistan. Matches in this group will be played in Colombo and India kick off in the second match of the opening day itself, versus Sri Lanka on June 26. This tournament also will be played at different venues and in nine groups. The venues are: Beirut (Group I), Kuwait (Group II), Taif City (Saudi Arabia, Group III), Rajsahi (Bangladesh, Group IV), Colombo (Group V), Sichuang (China, Group VI), Bangkok (Group VII), Guam (Group VIII) and Kuala Lumpur (group IX). The finals of this meet will be held in Tehran, from November 12 to 26. India’s B. Sundarraj has been chosen referee for group IX matches in Kuala Lumpur, between June 26 and July 4. COLOMBO U-16 schedule June 26: Bhutan vs Pakistan, India vs Sri Lanka; June 28: Sri Lanka vs Bhutan, India vs Pakistan; June 30: Bhutan vs India, Sri Lanka vs Pakistan.
