The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Friday launched a worldwide fundraising campaign titled Academy100 to broaden its reach and engagement ahead of the 100th Oscars in 2028.

Academy president Janet Yang and CEO Bill Kramer introduced the initiative, which includes a fundraising goal of USD 500 million before 2028. Initial funds worth USD 100 million have already been secured by the Academy from partners.

“We want to prepare for the next 100 years… Academy100 will position us to continue to be the global home of cinema,” Kramer said in conversation with A.frame, the digital magazine of the Academy.

“The Academy sits at the center of the global film community, and Academy100 is designed to ensure that all of our programs thrive long into the future,” Kramer added.

“We need to raise funds at this level so that when we move past our 100th Oscars, we have an endowment and reserves of a scale that will ensure that our future is sustainable,” he further said.

Academy 100 will feature a series of conferences, community meetups, exclusive events, and educational initiatives involving Academy members and the broader film and arts communities across various international locations.
