Laapataa Ladies cast — Nitanshi Goel, Sparsh Srivastav, Ravi Kishan and Pratibha Ranta — shared their thoughts on a potential sequel to the Kiran Rao-directed rural comedy in a new promo video dropped by Netflix on Instagram on Friday.

In the video, the actors discuss various ideas for the sequel, with Deepak (played by Sparsh) pursuing further studies, Phool (played by Nitanshi) opening her own shop, and Jaya (played by Pratibha) raising awareness about organic farming among villagers after completing her education in Dehradun.

“Manifesting a sequel to Deepak and Phool’s story because we’re already seated Watch Laapataa Ladies, streaming on Netflix,” Netflix wrote alongside the video that also features Aamir Khan.

“We discussed a lot," Nitanshi mentions at the start of the video when asked about the sequel's possibility. Sparsh elaborates on Deepak's storyline, expressing his desire for Deepak to pursue further education, breaking away from his family's tradition of being a watchman. “I hope Phool and Deepak study together," adds Nitanshi, while Sparsh says, "Let's call it Laapataa Gentlemen," playfully commenting on a possible title for the sequel.

Nitanshi states that Phool might establish her own kalakand store in Surajmukhi village, with Sparsh supporting her in this endeavor. Ravi Kishan praises the character of Manju Mai (played by Chhaya Kadam) as a strong woman, while Pratibha suggests that Jaya could either evolve into an entrepreneur or continue her mission of promoting organic farming.

Laapataa Ladies marks Kiran Rao's return to the director's chair 14 years after her debut film Dhobi Ghat (2010). Bankrolled by Aamir Khan Productions, this comedy drama delves into the misadventures of two brides (Phool and Jaya) who accidentally get separated from their husbands on a train.

Released theatrically on March 1, Laapataa Ladies is currently available to stream on Netflix.
